Women's Wellness HomepageHow Much should you Budget to Pay for Surgical Breast Enhancement? When considering a breast enhancement, it’s important to take certain factors into account before you decide on your budget. For instance, will you be taking time off work? If you do, how long will you be gone for and will you have that time paid for (i.e. sick leave or vacation pay)? If you choose to have breast enhancement surgery, what sort of implants are you thinking of having? These and other questions are all important things to take into account before considering having any enhancement surgery. How much does it Cost for Breast Enhancement Surgery? The price you will pay for this type of surgery greatly varies. You can find a surgeon to do the surgery for as little as $3000 and as much as $12000 (not including the cost of the implant itself). More important than the cost, however, is your safety and the quality of the job being done (no one wants to end up with lopsided or uneven breasts!). Be sure to do your research and check your surgeon’s references. On top of the price of the job itself, you must also consider the operating room costs which tend to vary any where from $2000 to $4000 (or possibly even more). These tend to be left out of any sort of advertized price, so do be sure to ask. How Long do I need to take off work for Breast Enhancement Sugery? For most career-types, you will only need to take a full week off of work if you do have breast enhancement surgery. Should you be working in a more labor-intensive job, consider taking off an additional week or two. You need to discuss your time off and vacation details with your work place. If the time off is not paid, you must budget accordingly so that you are able to cover your costs during that time away. Does the Type of Breast Implant Impact the Cost? Yes. Saline implants tend to add an additional $1000 to your surgical bill, while silicone is even more expensive at $2000. Other types of breast enhancements are generally not recommended. What are some “surprise costs” I may incur? As with any sort of cosmetic surgery you may not be 100% satisfied with the appearance or the feel of your breast implants. If this is the case, then expect to throw down more cash to have your implants “fixed” (unless it is clearly an error on the surgeon’s part, in which he or she should cover the costs for free). Again, consider that if you do need additional surgery, that only means that you will need to take more time off work. Most breast implants also need to be replaced each 5 to 10 years. This can take another $5000 to $10000 out of your bank account every few years. The important thing to remember here is, though initially you may be spending any where from $6000 to $18000 on your breast enhancement surgery, you will undoubtedly be spending even more as the years carry on. Before you go for breast enhancement surgery, consider the pros and cons and be sure that you are confident in your choice.
