Meditation and the Breast Cancer Survivor
Some of us are spiritual. Spiritual can mean a lot of things depending on who you talk to. But usually, anyone who believes in spirit, and takes some time to maintain their spiritual health could be considered spiritual. Many people believe that when the mind and body and spirit are in harmony, the body is much less likely to be attacked by cancer or other illnesses. Brenda Livingston, a breast cancer survivor, attributes her success at finally overcoming her cancer, with meditation. Meditation, she says, brought her body back into harmony. It calmed her stress and anxiety, it made her at peace. “Cure breast cancer”, you say, really? Well, no one is suggesting you meditate in lieu of medical treatment. But, a lot of people are suggesting treatment is more effective when the mind, body and soul are all working together. Many people believe that the cancer is less able to attack a healthy in harmony body. You will have to draw your own conclusions and make your own decision about what is best for you. But remember, you won’t find another treatment with absolutely no bad side effects.

Sit in a quite place in a comfortable chair. Let your hands rest comfortable upside down on your legs. Close your eyes and relax. Start to clear your mind of your thoughts. As thoughts come into your mind, gently push them aside. Do not get upset if thoughts continue to pop up, this is normal. Remind yourself that you will have time to address all of these thoughts when you are done meditating. Relax and take long, slow breathes. Be cognizant of your body, your mind and soul. Relax and focus on your breathing. Concentrate on the air moving in and out your body. Relax, breathe and let your mind go black. Think of nothing, thoughts will move in, calmly push them aside. Blank, empty, quite, you think of nothing. Practice your meditation for ten to fifteen minutes a day. At first, it will be difficult to clear the mind, do not despair. As the days go by you will find what works best for you, and you will get better. You will find a new calm, a new peace, and you too will be in harmony. Meditation is a proven Way to Women' Wellness!
Exercise that is FUN!
Finding a new activity or hobby that is fun makes being healthy easy. If you start a new exercise routine that is shear torture, it is only a matter time before we stop. Instead, if you start a new fun activity (that just happens to include exercise) you can make a true life change. People who started new activities like bicycling or kick boxing, often find a whole new world of friends, fun and wellness. Suddenly, your looking forward to getting off work and getting together with new friends and doing new activities.
Cycling is not only great for your physical health, its great for stress and anxiety. Getting out in the open air and being with elements, pushing yourself and joining friends on a ride, are great for mind, body and soul. Start by just getting out two or three times a week on what ever bike you can find. Try and go a little farther every week. Set goals for yourself and when you reach your goals reward yourself with gifts like a new helmet or a new bike. If its something you enjoy doing, join a local bike club. From there the sky is the limit. Enjoy your new hobby, friends, great body, health and happiness.
